Nice lamp Darren, I also have one of these 175W Sylvania cleartops except mine was missing the circular cardboard insert when I got it.

Thanks Joseph,I found this at a Restore type of new and used building materials shop (Bent Nail New and Used) it may be from the late 70's to mid 80's.Also found a Restore here in Abby,but nothing unusual there.

Was this the lamp you were asking me to help you date it? The base has the angled insulator, has to be '86 or later.

October '86. Lucky you had cleartops north of the border that late. I have a Sylvania 175w merc made in the USA back in '85, fully coated but with the old mogul base.

@Darren I've uploaded a picture of mine in my various lamps gallery. I got mine at a Home Hardware store though. There's a few Restores near me but I've only found old fluorescents and incandescents in them.
