Replaced this yesterday. The lumes take standard PCs but it looks like the city opted to use a wireless control instead of standard PC. Still think the OV-15 looked better. Well at least the light distribution isn't that bad and ehh the white light is better than HPS yellow lol.
National Grid basically announced that they are too cheap to start installing LEDs so if municipalities want to switch to LEDs, they must first purchase the existing HPS (and few MV missouts) and then install LEDs by themselves. At this time I don't think any cities or towns really have the money to do that...
The northwest corner of the state is run by PUD (Pascoag [pronounced "Pass-Ko"] Utility District) which is a Co-Op formed in the 90s before the MV to HPS changeout. So when the HPS changout happened they installed their own lights, which were DuraStars and later on OVHs, OVZ, and most recently 115s before starting to use AEL LED lights. Providence converted all their MV and PSMH and HPS post tops to induction. The induction light is pleasant to the eyes but dim.
One of these have failed already (not the ones on my street though). I was coming home yesterday and I noticed that one of the fixtures had only a quarter of the diodes lit. The diodes that were lit were also dimmed.
Maintenance free lights my (well I guess you know what goes here)...
Yeah I wouldn't mind seeing those pop up. GE is very advanced using reflectors to direct the LEDs so it would be really nice if they too offered a light with a refractor. Unfortunately slim is the new "in". Flatscreen TVs, tablets, etc, and now lighting i guess.
I dunno guys, I'm seeing some DURASTAR styling on that new drop lens AEL link. Not crazy about the yard blaster refractor either. I will say it has more character than this Philips Lumec.
No it doesn't look anything like the Durastar... Well i'd rather see an LED drop lens 115 or something but hey, it has a drop lens so i really don't care what kind of drop lens it is, it's got more character than FCO.
