I've only seen mold on some lights. I honestly though they caught on fire because it looked like black soot.

Nah. Just sand it off.
The mold is gonna leave a mark anyways, so I'd just repaint it.

I would consider that a pain! And I think there are likely better ways to get mould off.

Oxy-Clean. Gets the tough stains out.
Bleach will work. That's what my dad uses when we get mold in the garage
