A special lamp? Slyvania Property of NYC?
There's something special about this lamp...

Sure it is an ordinary Sylvania 10 watt 115-125 volt sign light.

But what makes this so special is the fact that it is marked as Property of New York City!!! Does anyone know any info about that?

is there a date code as it maybe because it was supplied to the NYC Authority for Decorative or Special lighting, in the UK Lamps used to be marked Property of H.M. Government see HERE and HERE, as they were made for the Military.

All the Best

I would assume the date code is hidden in the stem press....so it may be hard unless we had an X-ray machine!

A lot of agencies would have special markings when ordering in large quantities. This is most likely to deter theft. I have seen wire marked SCE and LADWP on the insulation to ID thiers, I am sure other utilities mark thier wire too.
