Before N' After
Here's a shot of what both power modules looked like on the left. To the right is what my power module on the m-400A2 i'm keeping looks like after i trimmed the wires and added those orange fluorescent ballast disconencts. The electrical tape on the wires is around a cylinder shaped crimp. i taped the crimps for added safety. now the only wire nut (besides those covering the unused taps) is with the blue wire connecting the igniter and ballast.

Looks better although I would have used these to splice the wires and to insulate the unused taps.

It seems Canadian fixtures have wirenuts from the factory though. My B2255 still has wirenuts but I use Marette 30/31/33/35 wirenuts which is what the factories use.

i wanted the wires to be straight like they are now. I would have just kept the wirenuts if i didn't want them liek this. the one with the wirenut is left liek that because i didn't want to crack the varnish on the wires. BTW, one ballast was marked E99 and the other E00 so May 1999 an 2000 were when these were made i guess. They must have been NOS when they were installed since i remember still seeing the lights HPS and i wouldn't remember them as HPS when i was two years old. I'm pretty sure they werent retofitted until the mid-2000s

Ahh, I see why then. I guess some heatshrink would have made the joint more factory looking than tape though. It seems odd for them to use a NOS ballast though. I guess that explains why they used a metal cap and metal? ignitor though.

yep igniter is metal. the caps were jsut free-floating in the fixtures though so i snipped off the bracket on half of both igniters and bent them to use them as brackets.

I use galvanized pipe straps as replacement cap straps Razz It's pretty cheap and you can cut it easily with a pair of snips.

yeah it's a temporary fix lol. the ignitors are wedged between the ballast and a couple screw hole column things lol.

I see Laughing it's still better than the people who don't secure anything and just slam the door closed.
cough B2255 guy /cough Razz

well the caps were loose lol. fortunatly with a power door fixture, you don't need to open the whole fixture to relamp so the cap wasn't in any danger of falling out.
