Just a quick test of the camera on my iPhone 5 I recently got. A mix of mercury and metal halide lights at a strip mall, well really all of the fixtures are metal halide, someone just put in lots of Philips lifeguard bt28 clear mercs.
The MH is clearly brighter! Or are the mercs dimmed out, having been installed since the mid-80s?

Yep a 250W MH gives the same amount of lumens as a 400W MV! A 175W MH gives off MORE lumens than a 250W merc and a 70W PSMH lamps gives off about the same amount of light as a 125w merc.
I think a 175w merc is like 8000 lumens while a 175w MH is like 13,000 lumens. I once tried a 175w GE clear MultiVapor lamp from a school gymnasium that I have as a computer desk decoration (like Joe does) in my 175w MV yard light and boy was it bright compared to the clear MV. The light was also much warmer/whiter/more natural looking.

yeah your lumens are about right. yeah when i first lit a 175W MH lamps versus a 175W MH i was like uhhhh is this lamp goning to explode or something?! Same with my 400W MH lamp when i stuck it in my M-400 i was like holy crap that BRIGHT! And yeah MH is more natural looking than MV, though Sylvania coated lamps have pretty good color rendering compared to others. They don't make your skin look green. i have very pale skin so i look like shreck under a clear merc lol.

Am I the only one who likes these MV/MH recessed fixtures? I have always loved one, and want one someday...or several (175w, 250w, and 400w). I also like how coated and clear MV and MH lamps get intermixed for some reason...
Although from what I've seen the MH looses lumens faster...a MV by the end of a MH's rated life will be brighter! Assuming they were both installed at the same time
Nice picture, that phone has a good camera. My phone takes decent pictures at 8 Megapixels but my 8 megapixel camera that I use for ALL my pictures takes much better pictures. xD
