That's an expensive dayburner!

There's two in this town that are dayburning. I reported both of them, but the power company refuses to fix them.

Hmm weird. NGrid will not relamp MV, but they will put a new PC on it. Especially if it's a big 1000W MV flood light, since those require two guys to remove. They're about 80 pounds a piece! Normally they'll just replace the PC and let the flood light be until it finally burns out. Then they'll typically replace the entire arm and light. It's easier to remove two lags and loosen the thru-bolt than it is to try and remove the flood lights from the arm without the flood light loosing balance and tumbling out of the bucket and smashing onto the ground. Sad to see those big beasts slowly disappear as the lamps die off or customers report them for being too dim. Even if a customer stops paying the bill they won't remove the light. They'll just swap out the PC for a red open cap. They call it "red capping".

That's almost $100 a month. Is this metered or does it not matter if its dayburning?

Street lights are not metered... That money is coming out of the electric company profits. $100/month is a drop in a bucket for the power company.

They finally fixed it.

Nice that they didn't replace it. Did they replace the lamp if it was dimmed out?

They won't replace the lamp unless I ask them to.
