yeah the basic bare-bone construction makes it seem like a philips lamp lol. Plus it has a brass base with the black paint splotch on it, which Philips uses still. Westinghouse had used the brass base with the black paint splotch too, at least from the 70s and later (not sure about before the 70s since my oldest Westie is a 70s lamps). I'm not sure what the paint splotch was for though. The base for mogul based HIDs is one of the only things Philips has kept from the old westinghouse designs.

I agree, Philips lamps are pretty darn no-frills...
