Technically its just M400A Wink

@gailgrove: Are u sure that they are the original M400A and not later versions?
The M400A is a very old cobrahead (The M400A2 FCO are already looks very old even if they are from the 1980s), and these lanterns have HPS lamps.
We haven't any intercity highway in Israel, lit with mercury lamps. Only HPS lamps.

I Believe so....just as the M400R2 is Technically the M4RR...though i know one of those (The R3) is a MRSL

Where Did M400R3/R2/A3 come from since these aren't technical designations by GE?
gailgrove   [Nov 15, 2010 at 07:22 PM]
Take a look on GE site, yes I am aware that GE use to make a M400A but they have labeled these as M400As as well Wink
dor123   [Nov 16, 2010 at 10:41 AM]
They must be GE M400A/R3 FCO, since the M400A FCO and the M4002A FCO looks almost the same, only minor changes.

If it has 2 doors its A3 if it has one door its R3

Jace, Jace, Jace; GE currently calls this a GE M400A Wink
Form109   [Nov 16, 2010 at 10:58 PM]
i think we've long established that gailgrove. Smile

Dude..I know they call it GE M-400A. But the last number is added to show the version....(or generation). So its a GE M-400A 3rd generation but guys, we are too lazy to type the "3rd Generation" part so its easier to say GE M-400A3 so people ccan know WHICH generation it IS..............if we said GE M-400A that GE M-400A this....the newbies will get confused and say "but they don't look the same so they both can't be GE M-400A......so it helps when adding the number in the end....its all over the lighting community.........
streetlight98   [Feb 17, 2011 at 10:32 PM]
THis would be technically a fourth generation.
1: THe origional M-400
2: The 70's "split-door" M-400 (and M-400A)
3: The M-400R2 and M-400A2
4: The current M-400 and M-400A
