Duro-Test H33GL-400/DX 400w Mercury Vapor lamp with ancient looking arc tube
Manufactured in '73, but it has a late 50s looking arc tube like in my old Westinghouse E-H1 mercury lamps. The electrodes are modern, tho.

How do you get that clear shot of the interior constructin?

Thin phosphor coating and a strong light source behind the lamp. You can still see it even on the main pic. (Barely)

Yep the lamp has a thin phosphor coating. I held the lamp towards the window and took the pic of the inside.

Do yuo know what month this was manufactured in?
Silverliner14B   [Dec 30, 2011 at 11:06 PM]
I think it was December 1973.

Thanks. 9 month's difference. Cool

From your GE M400 split door?
streetlight98   [Dec 31, 2011 at 02:26 AM]
Yep, 9 months between this and the M-400. Cool I've seen after looking under the Lamps album on GoL that there are quite a few lamps on here that were made in 1973 ^_^

Yep I have, a while back. Works good.

1973 means early Yttrium Vanadate coating. IIRC it was introduced to MV lamps a few years before.
Is the light colour/quality (CRI) very different to modern DX coated lamps? Thanks.
