That's a good idea for a CFL in an exposed fixture.

I think SAF-T-GUARD in this chinese GE electronic CFL, means (In North America) fireproof, so the ballast either willn't be exploded or catch fire at the end of lamp life, or more correctly, the fire from the ballast, willn't be erupted outside the ballast case, which is itself fireproof.

Actually this CFL has a coating of some sort of sillicon. It'll avoid the CFL from flying apart in case of a tube rupture.

The electrodes in these seem to be on a much longer stem then the normal ones, that was from the one I was looking at in the store!
