Post base
This is the base for a pole I will be installing in the next week and a half. I'm using solid brass acorn nuts for the pole for two reasons: First because they would look good on the post, and second, brass tends to stand up well to corrosion and will protect the thread ends better. I had to dig a 43" vertical hole by hand along with the conduit trench. I also used 370 pounds of concrete to fill the form. It set rather fast.

370 pounds of concrete. Shocked Well I'm sure it's safe to say this light post won't be going anywhere. Very Happy

The frost line is at 42 inches in my area so I had to go below it. The form is 48 inches and I went down to 43. Trimmed off the excess conduit and form also.

Ah yeah the frost line is about the same here too (Rhode Island).

I was told to use some type of inhibitor like never-seize or antioxidant on the threads as there are dissimilar metals involved between the brass acorns and the steel threads. I'll be painting the upper flat washers black and will be using antiox compound on the threads.

Ah that never-seize stuff sounds like good stuff.
