This is an OLD traffic light!!! I wonder how old.....great find!
Form109   [Nov 26, 2011 at 04:40 AM]
probably a 50's or 60's Era Signal.

5 Stars for EFFORT!

Nice 4 way! Cool

Is this the only head? The MUTCD requires at least 2 indications. Probably is just one if the controller is inside the head.
Form109   [Nov 26, 2011 at 08:45 AM]
yep this is the only head at the intersection,it's hard to see the signal when your right under it basically.
streetlight98   [Nov 26, 2011 at 02:22 PM]
In New Hampshire there was one of these. In order to comply with MUTCD, they just added post top signal heads to the intersection and rewired the controlls to a modern one. Nice that they kept the old signal.

good stuff..i love when they keep old equipment around such as Here.

they have Three 4 Ways per intersection...which means it meets MUTCD....got any pictures of what your talking about though?..sounds intreasting,BTW Streetviews of both Sargent Sowell 4 Way's in that city have been added in the Description above.

Here's the closest thing to a old four way in Ontario. Shocked A Crouse Hinds D/DT four way beacon...MINE!
streetlight98   [Nov 26, 2011 at 05:19 PM]
We don't even have that here.
joe_347V   [Nov 26, 2011 at 06:18 PM]
That light is three hours away from where I am Shocked , this is a lot closer.

Sargent Sowell produced signals in the mid 60s to early 70s. The original diecut mechanical controller would be in the bottom, unless a newer controller was added on the pole later.

TEECO bought the Sargent Sowell design and is currently the only manufacturer of fixed four way signals left in America. My buddy took a picture of a brand new TEECO four way recently installed in Ohio Here! Its cool to see brand new fixed four ways going up.

it should be internal...nothing that looked like a controller box was anywhere near..or if it was i missed it.

similar setup with a 4 Way Cluster in the same town, similar phase changes so it must use a similar controller but obviouslly external since a controller probably isn't in a cluster.

I know of only one fixed 4-way around where I live. It looks very similar to this.
Form109   [Dec 25, 2011 at 11:24 PM]
Fixed Face 4-Way's aren't that common a sight for me...none in tyler except for a local BBQ resturant that has a CH 4 Way Red Beacon as a decorative piece indoors and one place slightly south of us has a Rare WS Darley ball beacon.

I wonder if Ontario ever used fixed four way signals, I can't find of pic of one here.
