Many of the New Signal Poles
here's a pic of many of those new signal poles that were recently installed as a small part of the plan to revitalize tyler's downtown area which has lots of urban decay like most, these new signal poles do not have streetlights on them like the old ones did and are slightly decorative in nature, the masts are curved and the poles themselves are ribbed all around which sort of gives them that decorative cast iron look...the signals on them are Black Eagle Durasig Polycarbo Heads with what looks like Dialight LED Modules.

Cooper OVZ in the Foreground on an Old Pole, probably held a remote ballasted fixture way back in the day...the open top of the pole formerly had a remote ballast can on top of it like many still do in the city.

Interesting, I see the new arms are curved. I was told curved arms are more decorative so they are often used in downtowns. Here in California curved arms are the state standard. Oh that old pole I wouldn't be surprised if it had a beautiful clamshell once lol.

the new signal poles look nice, the city installs new brown signal poles everywhere now,but the ones in downtown here are more ornate than the usual ones if for no other reason than being on the Main Street of the city right through downtown...however they do not have lights on top like the old one's did....not sure if they plan to add any as there's not really any room up there unless they stick a post top on top which wouldn't look right...the sidewalks were lined with existing acorn lights anyway, lol.

as for the old pole im sure it did contain a clamshell as the Tyler used to have form 109's way back in the 60's...the top of the pole which is open to moisture used to have a remote ballast on top, which most still do...just disconnected obviouslly.
