Thanks! I would like one of these lights... But I bet they are hard to get.

Hmm. I notice Cooper always seems to put the NEMA label crooked on the newer fixtures. Not the OVZ or OVX, but other fixtures such as the OVH/OVG, OVF/OVY/OVD and OVL. Confused

Ian; I saw a 150w OVG on ebay a couple days ago. I dunno the web adress though.

Here it is although it is quite expensive.

Do these OVH's have the same top housing as the OVZ? I look and it seems VERY similar.

I would say they use the same top housing, but unfortunately I don't have a OVZ yet to compare the two.

I compare looking at this picture and at my OVZ... I see no differences..
streetlight98   [Oct 11, 2011 at 02:41 AM]
The housings are the same as far as I know. The OVX housing a wider though.

The OVX housing is similar to the OVS. Since pretty much the incarnations of it were.. OV-15/OV-400, then the L-150 (also known as the Crouse Hinds OV-15), then to the OVS, which was similar to the L-150, but with an internal slipfitter. Then the OVX came out as a more upgraded version of the OVS, a bit boxier, but nonetheless similar.

The OVC came out with the OVS as a cheaper, smaller fixture compared to the OVS, then then later it was renamed the OVZ, up until today. And the OVH and OVG came out as a street side version of the OVZ in 1998 (my OVH was probably one of the first ones made). With a different design door and different reflector, but the same top housing as the OVZ, as far as I know. I could argue the OVH/OVG is a smaller version of the OVD/OVF/OVY.

Anyway.. Darren, what happened to the old 50 watt HPS ballast from this?

The older hinge design OVX had the same top housing as the OVS. The modern OVXs have the newer hinge design, so they won't accomodate the OVS doors. and there's more info you left out with the OVC. The OVS and OVC weren't intoduced the same time. There was a few years bfore the OVC came out. The OVC was slightly changed to the C-Hinds OVZ, and then Cooper made the OVZ the chubby version we see today.
