Can't imagine these are as bright as the halogen lamps they are supposed to replade.

They are pretty bright,they seem to light up the area more than the halogens did.

I wonder if they will make it hard for oncoming traffic to see though, I wouldn't mind LED headlamps for my own car though

These ones perform best for use in projector headlights rather than regular headlight reflector housings. There are other LED conversion lamps which mimic a halogen lamp filament and have a similar beam pattern,those ones do not create the glare for oncoming traffic.

Re the projector type headlights the ones with the lense in front of them instead of the headlights that just have a little reflective cap over it? If so then my car has the projector type. One downside of those are that when they hit a bump behind me it kinda looks like they are flashing at you when they really aren't due to the optics changing on the bump.

Yes the round type lens that looks like a magnifying glass. True they can look like you are being flashed when they hit a bump due to the focused optics.
