Huh. Yeah I've never seen anything like this in the States. Go figure. Rolling Eyes Laughing

I'm surprised, I thought there would be more selection of different lamps in the States than in Canada.

I'm wondering if maybe they have these and I haven't noticed? I've never noticed them for sale here. I assume they're located with the christmas lights? Do they sell them year-round or just during the holidays?

I have seen such miniature wire replacement bulbs package from time to time in our market, Mike.
lite_lover   [Dec 28, 2014 at 08:47 PM]
Yep,they're usually only a seasonal item, available where the Christmas decorations/lights are sold.

I've never seen a pack as big as that one on the left Shocked

But as for little 5/10 packs of mini bulbs, those are common here in Christmas season. I have lots of them Laughing probably hundreds of bulbs worth..
lite_lover   [Jan 23, 2015 at 08:06 AM]
Yeah that's a big pack, seems like only one store around here carries them in that size and only in clear lamps.
xmaslightguy   [Jan 24, 2015 at 01:03 AM]
It'd be a good pack if you had a whole set die.. or did allot of decorating (something I've been known to do .lol. )

I have a few lit deer with about 200+ clear lights on each of them, every year I find a good number of lamps that burn out, good thing they are stay lit sets lol. I replace the bad ones before I put the deer back into storage.

I do a fair bit of decorating, a mix of LED & incandescent mini's (before LEDs became commonplace it was all incandescent)
(this year total bulb count for both types combined was a bit over 16k Smile .. have done more in the past, but I'm getting old & don't have the energy or time to do as much as I used to)

Before packing all those lights away for the season, I test them & replace any dead bulbs (then ofcourse when putting up they get checked again. always seems to be a few bulbs that mysteriously die sitting in the box LOL)
lite_lover   [Jan 24, 2015 at 08:16 PM]
Wow,that's awesome, 16K bulb count is pretty impressive! Shocked Yeah I find I need to make sure the light sets are completely dry before putting them back into storage since we get a lot of rain here,it seems residual moisture can corrode the wire leads of the working mini-lights and then they develop a poor connection or break off when I remove the bulb to test it.
xmaslightguy   [Jan 25, 2015 at 05:24 AM]
Thanks Smile They're also computer controlled, but with really old stuff..nothing like those displays you see on TV

Rain isn't a problem here .lol. it'd come down as snow instead...but overall its a fairly dry climate so we don't usually even get allot of snow. Occasionally I've ended up bringing in sets that are wet, like you I'd let them get fully dry before putting away..not just because of corrosion, but also I wouldn't want to risk mold growing on the outside of the wire.

Cool!! Computer controlled too!! Cool It must take quite a bit of time to get everything set up. Yeah mold can be a problem too, here it's the 'WetCoast' lol it's rainy most of the time in the winter months, with the occasional time we get some snow or a cold snap for a few days when it's clear and the air is cold and dry.
