Ahh nice! I buy ratty fixtures at the Restore for their ballasts and give the housings to my grandpa to scrap. Makes both of us happy lol.

Nice job! My Restores sell loose ballasts so I usually grab these instead of buying ratty lights.

Thanks Mike and Joe! This was a cool restoration project, glad to have been able to salvage it and make a six footer out of it,luckily I was able to find the same style Leviton lamp holders to replace the broken ones. The Restore here had a good selection of various loose ballasts but now they only have a bunch of 277V and 347V electronic ones left.

Ah my Restore doesn't sell loose ballasts, probably just because they never get them. I was surprised at how many fixtures there were. I bought three mutilated wrap lights for their ballasts. they had fluorescent starters mixed in with spark plugs lol.

BTW, how good are the Benchlite ballasts? I saw a shoplight fixture with a vintage-looking Benchlite ballast rated for 0.85A but it was small like a LPF so i didn't get it. If it's there next time i go, would it by worth getting?

An Advance BenchLite is a LPF magnetic rapid start. It doesn't drive lamps at full power and is flickery with F40s in the cold but is still a nice magnetic ballast...I don't think they would play nice with 34 watters though...although if you can find an LPF that's rated for them they work better than F40s (More reliable starting than F40s) in cold.
Was it a small reflector shoplight with a short cord/plug (about 8" long)? If so I have one like it, although the pervious owner of my house "modified" it with a piece of orange extension cord wire then spliced the original plug back on... Shocked Laughing It works though so I've never bother redoing it. (The plug on my Sears shoplight is also spliced on),

Those adjustable wrenches, they're good for everything BUT bolts! Laughing

Kinda like duct tape, which can fix just about everything except what it's supposed to be for, ducts that is. xD

@Darren, glad to see you got the matching Leviton holders for it. If you need any more, my Restore has a bunch of the older style holders for sale I could send you lol.

Kids in my school all thought it was "Duck Tape". Rolling Eyes Laughing They don't know what a "duct" is. I always get a WTF face when I explain that an air vent is called a "duct". Laughing

@ Joe,yeah I was pretty happy to find some of the same type of lamp holders. Sure, that would be great if you could get a few more of the same type of lamp holders. Cool They are Leviton model # 2535 and the spring loaded holder 2534. @ Mike duck tape Rolling Eyes Laughing @ Vince, yeah the adjustables can be a pain, this is a good size wrench that I use mostly for larger size pipe fittings and valves.

@Darren, ahh I wasn't sure if mine were the right ones so I posted a pic of them. Anyway the models numbers are similar 534 and 535, let me know how many of each you need and I see if I can grab them sometime this week as send them out. Drop me a PM Razz
lite_lover   [Jun 09, 2014 at 06:50 AM]
@ Joe, these are very similar, mine have the grooves to slide into the channel instead of holding it with a screw, does your Restore only have the 534 & 535 style?

That's one Big A** Wrench! Shocked
lite_lover   [Jun 10, 2014 at 03:59 AM]
It sure is,has an 18" handle.

What did they do, rip the closer ballast out of the fixture or something? Not bad for being so bent up before!
