I've seen this a few times where a Douglas Power-Pack has failed,and it's too much of a pain to repair it.Just leave it and install a yard blaster,in this case the yard blaster is dayburning.
Douglas power-paks weren't service-friendly eh? Did these have the ballast on the door or in the top housing of the arm? that yardblaster appears to be runnign hery hot since the shprt clear PC is almost brownish.
No they are not really service friendly,I can do it,but the average person opens it up,takes a look,scratches their head and then puts the ballast door back on. The ballast is mounted in the top housing.
LOL I get that reaction from people too. I showed my neighboor the inside of my NOS GE M-400 (he's a residential contractor who ironically built my house!) and he was in awe looking at all those wiring connections as well as the fact that a streetlight is three feet long and weighs in at 45 pounds. Plus it's very handy for lighting the backyard up for parties.
In fact, it'll be out there with my M-250A this coming Saturday for my little brother's 9th birthday. I do this thing called the "halloween scare" where i set up a path along the backyard with all halloween lights and decorations and my cousins and i scare the living heck out of the adults in the family. It's fun to set up and do but after it's over with at about 9PM, you need the extra 500W of light to clean up everything lol. Plus since the lights are only 4ft off the ground (i pop off a fence post cap and stick a yardblaster arm in it) it really doesn't light much but it's enough. I only have two yardblaster arms (well i suppose i could buy another at lowe's...) so i use my brightest light and another one. i'll post pics of the set up. My traffic signal gets involved as well as my strobe light and they dusk to dawn duplex receptacle i made (plus about half a dozen extension cords and about a dozen strings of halloween lights) I'll try to incorperate my exit sign too this time...
