Might you be able to send me the power door to this? Probably with a ballast? xD If not that's okay, I could just use wires with it so I can make an extra power door for my M-400 A3.

I need to hang on to this one as a spare for 250W HPS lighting repairs, but I will keep it in mind and see if I can get some more.

It seems you keep finding these on the ground. xD Be careful though, I don't want you to get in trouble with the cops for taking lights off the side of the road. (If you didn't find this on the side of the road and got it like at a yard or something correct me on that, I am not sure HOW exactly you got it)

By the way have you gotten your OVX yet?
lite_lover   [Sep 23, 2012 at 04:03 AM]
Yeah I get a few from the contractors or doing light stuff for the city when you get a knock down once in a while, occasionally driving around I will find one down and I'll stop to pick it up,doing my part to clean up the side of the road. Laughing No I haven't got the OVX yet, I see it has arrived at my US address, but I have to find some time to run down and pick it up. Very Happy

Here normally the ballast housing stays up, but the GRP Beka head brals off and comes down, breaking the outer envelope of the lamp as it does so. Often the bare HPS arc tube is intact and lights for a while.

Was this fixture formally a drop lens or FCO? Probably FCO.. But I still wonder. xD

Will an exposed HPS arc tube emit harmful UV like MV or MH will?
streetlight98   [Aug 31, 2014 at 10:12 PM]
Yes but not as much. I don't know if its enough to seriously hurt you from far away but it wouldn't continue to use a broken one. The lamp wouldn't warm up all the way anwys since the gas fill in the lamp (nitrogen i think?) allows the arc tube to get very very hot (it sorta acts like insulation, as the lamp glass itslef isn't nearly as hot as the arctube but still hot enough to fry and burn an egg) so if the outer glass gets smashed or the lamp looses vacuum, the lamp won't warm up all the way since it can't build up enough heat. Mh and MV don't have that issue. That's what HPS needs a ceramic arc tube (well also because sodium corrodes quartz) since ceramic can withstand the heat of the HPS arctube.

Yeah probably not as much, but it can burn I tried it once and got some burn from it lol.

BTW, was that OVZ a roadkill too or a light that was slated to be installed?
lite_lover   [Aug 31, 2014 at 11:26 PM]
The OVZ was good,it's in my collection now.I was able to save it from another light change-over.
streetlight98   [Aug 31, 2014 at 11:43 PM]
Ah cool! I don't know if I'e said anything before but if you do come across any more roadkill coopers, could you save me the terminal block and PC receptacle for me? My OV-15 TuDor needs new ones The terminal block terminals are rusted and corroded. The PC socket works electrically but it really clamps down on PCs and it takes a ton of force to try and pull a PC out. I think the contact inside are a little corroded or something.

BTW, I got some cardboard to make a box for your M-400A2. I'm just waiting for the NEMA tag and fixture labels to arrive from Joe (I had a real NEMA tag made for it. Very Happy )
