Dayburner I Fixed
This 400w MH had a bad Lumitrol PC,date 11-99. I put in an Intermatic 120-277v, and I heard a pop from it and it didn't light a new bulb, had to get another PC an Intermatic 208-277v and it worked. This is on a 240 volt line. I put in a new bulb, the old one looked about ready to pop, the arc tube was severly bulged.

these fixtures are pretty uncommon to me....I know of some in a park when I was still living in Tyler. they are bland but they appeal to me much more than shoeboxes! (minus the Cooper ORL that is....)

I seen some of these around here but I didn't know that they supported 400w lamps.

Very cool, none of these here, regarding wrong voltages once I came across a wallpack with a shorted ballast, replaced the ballast and lamp then went inside and turned it on, 2 mins and I was back outside and noticed it didn't work, opened it and new 100W MH lamp was blown up! Ballast was smoking too, I had wired it for 120V instead of 277V

so Rick reguarding that 120-277 Volt PC. the pop you heard im assuming is something failing in the PC? why would that happen on a 240 V Line if the PC is rated up to 277 V?

and that's intreasting Aaron.
joe_347V   [Jun 18, 2014 at 04:56 PM]
Yeah, I'm bit puzzled about the PC too, I thought the 120-277v ones worked fine off of 240v.

@Aaron, you happen to have a pic of the aftermath? Shocked
streetlight98   [Jun 18, 2014 at 07:31 PM]
I'm pretty sure me made a typo and meant a 120V Intermatic because 120-277V PCs work on 120, 208, 240, and 277V.

Interesting. Do you know who made this fiXture ?
I've seen a lot near Quebec.
A_lights   [Jun 19, 2014 at 12:13 AM]
Possible the 240V having power on both legs didn't agree with it? I know some ballasts are sensitive to this, and need neutral and hot connection only

Here's a much smaller similar-looking light at a local Pizza Hut. There's two of these poles in the front of the store. I don't know if they work at night or not but I'd assume they're either PL or incandescent.

Ahh, here's the ones in my area. It's a two headed version too.

These are made by Kim Lighting.

Hmm interesting. My mom's name is Kim lol.

@ Mike, does this mean your interest in lights comes from your mother? Laughing Laughing
streetlight98   [Jul 06, 2014 at 10:59 PM]
Lol maybe. My M-250A is the same age as her too, made in October 1967. Smile

Had 2 more dayburners since this one, the had Lumitrol PCs too. I also replaced a failed Intermatic 120V PC that caused 4 250w HPS intersection safety lights to dayburn.
streetlight98   [Jul 19, 2014 at 02:56 PM]
Sounds like they need to stop giving you residential grade photocells. Razz Laughing
rlshieldjr   [Aug 18, 2014 at 05:10 AM]
I replaced a PC, an Intermatic 120-277V, failed OFF, blew out in only a month.
streetlight98   [Aug 18, 2014 at 02:46 PM]
Maybe you should use DTLs or Ripleys or ALRs. Very Happy The new Fisher Pierce/Sun-Tech PCs are bad thopugh, I'd avoid them...
rlshieldjr   [Mar 19, 2017 at 02:32 AM]
Repaired another like this, dayburning and a well worn lamp. PC was an Intermatic 120-277V.
streetlight98   [Mar 19, 2017 at 03:13 AM]
Why do they give you Intermatic PCs? They're residential grade junk. DTL or Ripley photocells are SO much better. Intermatic's "low cost" photocells with the print on the side are garbage.
