I've seen this before in places with highbay lights and lowish ceilings. Personally I'd use a proper low bay instead of rigging up something like this though.

That's actually a remote ballast high bay. Not too uncommon as all the lighting manufacturers have that as an option.

Strut is some of the strongest mounting systems available.

Yeah strut is definitely on an electrician's "best friend" list lol. We use it all the time at work. You can build some pretty wacky stuff with strut too.
