I converted my M-250R2 FCO to drop lens with a drop lens reflector and refractor (I actually swapped out the FCO reflector for a drop lens one, provided courtesy of Steve Zalimas, member slz). Looks good IMO. And yes, that's a hairline crack down the side of the refractor. The lamp is a newer Sylvania and the PC is a 1993 Fisher Pierce that I already had in the collection.
This one is 70W HPS, 120V. It's really an FCO but I installed a drop lens and a drop lens reflector (GE uses two different reflectors for the M-250R2/A2 lights for drop lens and FCO).
Which do you prefer in general, drop or cutoff? Ever seen the clear polycarbonate or maybe acrylic drop lenses in M250s we have here in Sitka in RI or Mass in person?
I prefer drop lens for sure but the FCO GE M-250A2/R2 reflectors are very cool looking and FCO does make the neighbors happy (however at lower mounting heights such as my back yard, they're not much more than a spotlight). I might install either my M-250R2 or M-250A2 outside. Don't really want HPS outside but it would be cool to see them mounted outside.
Nope, never seen the clear globes before. RI doesn't use them. I think one or two towns in MA do though, but I've only seen pictures.
Not a huge fan of them really. They are definitely unique and I'm surprised it's still a standard option. I figured they would have stopped making them since they're so rarely used. The clear refractors use the FCO reflector BTW.
