Provo FS-2 starter and S&S socket

Saved from a 1960s cooking range. The starter is obviously a later replacement. It doesn't work! It's the 2nd one of that brand I find and the count is 0 working, 2 defective! The first one used to work but it stuck shortly after putting it in service. This one though simply flashes every two seconds without really activating...

The socket on the other hand is of much higher quality. The whole cooking range it came from was also top quality.
