Well if I did it it might be a different story, I will some day order a new ballast kit from GE to replace this one.

Looks similar to what happened with MY 250w HPS ballast. Mine was GE though.

@LilCinnamon This was also a GE ballast, it came out of one of my M250R2s.

This is not really that new, its from 1993.

I am guessing high wattage (200-250) ballasts in the M-250r2 have a tendency to fry. xD

I guess so, even GE stuff isn't as good as it use to be, BTW Ian you never did respond regarding the other GE ballast I have Wink

I've seen newer GE's having lamp cycling problems even after a few years including ballast and capacitor problems.

Believe it or not!!! Even older fixtures had early failures! I often in neighborhoods that originally had Westinghouse MO-8s from early 60s get new replacements with late 60s early 70s Westinghouse NEMA fixtures and GE M-250R1s and even OV-15s as replacements! Believe it or not. It may just not seem like it, but it's pretty true...even older fixtures and lamps have had early failures. I mean when you see a row of older fixtures but you see a few that are old too but just maybe 5 years or 10 years newer....sometimes that is a replacement of previous fixture....but other times it's just added later...

Like the newer M-400's, in fact there was one that cycled all the time in New Kensington PA that was recently replaced with a 1000 watt metal halide streetlight.

Yeah, the new M-400 has a bad tendancy to cycle. Close to but not as bad as the Cooper fixtures. I notice it in 200 & 250w HPS drop lens M-250R2s, but not the FCO M-250R2s.
