1977 Fisher Pierce Photocell
Notice how it discolored only on one side? That's because this was originally used in a 400W MV GE PF-400 that's mounted on the side of the church building. The undiscolored side was facing the building so it remained like-new. A few years ago the floodlight was relamped since the lamp was dimmed and this photocell must be the one that was on it. The new PC is blue and the new lamp worked for a few months, a year tops, but doesn't work anymore.

Even though it's light gray, it's a 120-285V photocell, which makes me think the church i got this from bought them from Narragansett Electric at one point.

Ah thanks. I edited the info. Cool I just realized all three of these PCs are the same model number. Very cool to have three generations of the same PC! funny thing is, out of these three the oldest PC is the most sensitive and the newest one is the least sensitive. this one's in the middle with both age and sensitivity.

I wet-sanded one of my discolored photocontrols (an ITT) and it came out looking pretty new. The other one (a FP) I couldn't get "clean" looking so I spray-painted it silver Smile

Ahh yeah i did that with a 1988 Ripley photocell except i accidentally dropped the base, with the guts, on the floor and the thing was a dayburner. I probably could have fixed it but at that age I wasn't the brightest... I even went so far as to rip all the guts out of the photocell and make it into a shorting cap. After that, I've tried to get my hands on just about any Ripley Sunswitches i can since i love the tinted square window.
