StreetLight #286 - WalMart Downgraded MH To LED
In a Walmart parkinglot...these appeared just recently.
Previous lights were MH shoeboxes. I thought I had a pic of those original lights, but I guess not :(
Haven't been there at night (yet) so don't know how they compare...

Seen at walmarts in canada too. I like seeing a reflector at least.

Yeah, atleast there is something in them.
Be interesting to see how they look at night.

The one I am currently working at (for 3 more days before I have 7 days off, then I will be working at a Walmart in Longmont, CO) has 480 volt 1000 watt metal halide lights. At the moment all of the circuits that control the lights are all messed up due to a lightning striking the building on Monday (Yes I was in the building) and parts of the lights still don't work, and I was talking to the electricians who were working on it and they just can't exactly figure out what is wrong after that.. I feel that the people who wired the parking lot lights didn't do a good job and messed things up, or that lightning strike messed up the circuits in so many ways that it requires lots of fixing and stuff.. Hmmm...

I have no idea on what wattage the MH were that were originally at this store. But they looked reasonable size...and 2 per pole, so I can't see any way that the lot would be same brightness now.

I know that a lightning strike can really mess up/fry the electrical system of a building that gets struck Shocked
They may end up having to replace the wire itself on those affected circuits...

I actually caught them in the act of replacing the Metal Halide with these today. At a Walmart.

I guess they are going around to all the stores & converting the parking lots? I last weekend noticed another store here where they'd been changed out.

Also I was by the Walmart where this pic was taken earlier this week... at night: parking lot is deff dimmer than it was before, but its not all that bad either.

Yep they did my local store recently, and the replaced 1000W MH shoeboxes were only three years old. Confused

The walmart I now work at has the same lights pictured here. All I can say, is being back in Colorado, not all that much has changed..... Heh. Other than an LED swarm all over the dang place. But I have grown on LED's, I wouldn't mind having my own in my collection someday. Especially if it is a cobrahead
