It's a GE! I know where this one is! I actually have some pics...I will upload those! Any chance the car shop was on the right of the pic right?
Those and the cuplights have 400 watt MV....and trust me they have a LOT more than 24,000 hours of life...in matter of fact some of them has lamps that was installed in the 1960s and they still are burning, but dim!
This one wasn't a gumball, it was a teardrop...its an enlarged refractor glass...although some of them in those road had gumballs instead too....they are 400 watt MV.
It's remote ballast....but a 175 watt will fit inside this, its same size as a NEMA head...in fact it IS an NEMA head....
The buckets didn't come out first...the Gumball came before the buckets! The head part was orginally made for gumballs, admiral hats and stuff....but later it became for buckets...
an "NEMA head" does not mean "bucket fixture" it is only the HEAD!
Admiral hat, Quartermoon, Gumballs, Teardrops, and those famous bucket fixture ALL HAVE the NEMA heads!
You would be surprised......I fit a MH ballast with a cap and ignitor in a NEWER GE NEMA head! and the NEWER GE NEMA heads are actually smaller than those above!
I am not exactly sure if its a 79...since this one is a tear drop...I have a similar fixture in my collection but with a newer design slipfitter....but it is a GE Tear Drop for sure!
@GullWhiz, I think there was a car shop on the right... Its gotta be the same one you saw and photographed, since its the only one along N.B. that's got a broken globe like this.
