Picture from a 1944 flourescent installation
This picture comes from an old ad in a magazine from July, 1944. I didn't upload the full ad because it wasn't very interesting (and not in English). 
The fluorescents are 40 W and are lighting up a factory owned by a company I have never heard of, nor have I ever heard about the fixture maker before.

Where did I say T8? They are almost certainly T12.

We had F30T8 and shorter around that time though!
