My Backyard - Night
This was my backyard on Sunday night. The tree kept losing branches and it's a huge mess right now. Like I said we never lost power so the floods lighting up the tree and house are still on. BTW the green lights are just coloured incandescents but in this shot look almost like clear mercs!

wow it's amazing you never lost power. I know your neighborhood has underground power lines (since you have twistpacks) but is that whole area underground? Here the newer upscale developments are underground but since the lines feeding them are above ground it doesn't make any difference, it just looks better lol.

and you had me fooled. i thought they were clear merc floods lol.

Yeah, I heard Brampton and Mississauga didn't have as many places without power as Markham, Richmond Hill, Scarborough, and North York.

My street is all underground but the feeders for my street are all overhead so I lost power over the weekend.

My street is underground which is fed from overhead lines as well, they are on concrete poles which I think probably hold up better than wood poles. I know lots of areas around here still don't have power. Out in Halton they haven't had power for two days!

yeah the concrete poles probably hold up better. the wood poles must be a lot cheaper though since that's all that's used here (except for metal distribution line poles). There are a lot of poles here from the telegraph era and some are about as porous a sponge so if we get a bad storms they snap like toothpicks.

Yeah I figured your power was on the Concrete poles. That whole subdivision is on the concrete poles.

It's 99% wood here so I guess that's why a lot of places in Markham lost power. Same deal for North York and Scarborough. Mississauga and Brampton have a lot of concrete poles though.

The big roads here have concrete poles, and some of the smaller roads have concrete poles.
