that makes no sense how Ge manufactrured two different models of basically the same bulb.

Not exactly the same lamp. Both are different sizes. I have both of them. The 45w one is dead. The 42w one is smaller than the 45w one. Hope I find another 45w one to replace the dead one I have.

The 45 Watts bulb I got today (2009-11-23) at Sandy Springs, GA Ace Hardware. That is the last bulb they have in stock Sad

The larger wattage GE Spirals don't seem to be that reliable. I have had a lot of problems with them.

I think the 42W is a replacement of the older 45W one. But anyway 42lm/W is way too low for such larhe fluorescent...
