Variety of CGE F26T8/CWs from last recycling centre season.
More vintage appliance fluos! These are probably 70s vintage, predating the introduction of the /4 suffix, whose purpose is still unknown. 4 pins maybe? xD

Jokes aside, I assume it's a standard number code, kinda like /99 for extended service.

F26T8? Never heard of it. Are they 26 watts or 26" long?
GEsoftwhite100watts   [Mar 08, 2014 at 04:08 AM]
Probably 26w since they're bipin...most bipin lamps have the wattage in the ordering code (F40T12, F34T12, etc.) while slimlines and RDC HO lamps are the length... (F96T12, F48T12/HO, etc.)

Nice save Smile

Those are the exception to the rule! They're 26", 19W and not 26W. For some reason GE prefers to use the length for the ordering code with their appliance fluorescent tubes... Other manufacturers use the wattage.

Hmm can these run on preheat chokes or a regular 14-20W ballast? I have two early 60s Sylvania 30" F25T12 lamps that I don't have the gear to run. I can buy the gear but then I don't have a fixture for the gear lol. It's not topping my list right now though since if I have a fixture to run them I'll be tempted to run them lol. I've tried a trigger start and NPF 30/40W rapid start ballast and nothing. I've tried a FS-2 choke with a FS4 starter and nothing. I have a 30/40W preheat NPF ballast that I could try and I might try...

Is that why there's GE F24T8 lamps which I assume to be F17T8s?
streetlight98   [Mar 08, 2014 at 04:58 PM]
I think the F24T8s would be 18W since the F17T8s are standard lamps while the F18T8s are the apliance version. I don't know why applicances just can't use regular lamps lol.
TiCoune66   [Mar 09, 2014 at 12:45 AM]
The F24T8 seems to be virtually identical to the european F18T8 in fact, and it's indeed an 18W. The F18T8/K24 is Sylvania's equivalent.

Appliance fluorescents all run on chokes. The F25T12 however has its own. A common 14-22W model would probably not drive it properly, but it wouldn't damage it either.

Yeah what I really need is the correct start i guess. From what I understand they use the same starter as a 22 or 32W circline.

One of the first eol lamps I experimented with at about 11 yrs. old was a 16w 26" T8 lamp out my mom's clothes dryer. It actually said 16w but don't remember the lamp code or brand...it was a black ender though. The other day I did come across a NOS Westinghouse F16T8/CW/26 "16w Appliance" which fits into my stove top. When first turned on, it striates heavily just like those old lamps in my mom's laundary machines! When warmed up, it does appear pretty bright.
TiCoune66   [Mar 12, 2014 at 12:21 AM]
I don't know why these particular tubes striate when they're cold, even the oldest ones. Maybe they don't have a pure argon atmosphere?
GEsoftwhite100watts   [Mar 12, 2014 at 01:04 AM]
The 24" GE T8s I have in use striate horribly! Like a cold 34w 4' or 60w 8' slimline lamp!
