Hart store in Trois-Pistoles, QC - From T12 to... T12!
Odd! A couple of months ago this location used flush-mounted T12 slimlines but now it seems they've been replaced by recessed slimlines! They look curiously similar to the fixtures that were used in the recently closed Zellers locations of Rivière-du-Loup and Rimouski. Maybe they bought the fixtures from them as an update in the aesthetic appearance of the lighting?

A quite rare example of new installation of magnetic T12s!

These recessed slimline fixtures were quite common here back in the 90s but it seems T8 and a move away from drop ceilings in big box stores and supermarkets killed most of them off.

Yeah I associate these with Wal-Mart stores, Walgreens stores, and supermarkets. I liked these...

yeah i guess they cut the suspending ceiling out of the bill for new buildings a lot of times, though they help absorb sound and help insulate the building a LOT better. I've seen 2X4 troffers in older buildings though too. Typically I've seen continuous 8ft recessed lights with 4ft fixtures at the registers. I suppose it's so that there's not a huge drop in light when a lamp dies at the register (since older security camereas need quite a bit of light for decent footage). If it's too dark at the register there's too much "gray area" so-to-speak.

Yeah I know what you mean there...
Also looks like this is a mix of cool white and daylight...
