Ok heres a light near my house. Now im not sure if this is the split door version or the powr/door? Info Needed!
These Lights are all over Holyoke with the screw latch
A new mystery LOL...I think its most likely a Splitdoor....the member NiMo on this site knows the best...but because no big latch, it has to be a split door.....
Very Interesting! That picture of the light I thought was a M-400A has the same setup. I always thought the vent meant the ballast was mounted on the door but I dont know now. Im guessing this light is from the 70's
Really??? NiMo without you...we would be totally wrong or clueless...you have been HELPFUL! Now let me ask you NiMo, what about the designs with only the clip and no screw? Maybe we need more pictures and details on those GE fixtures! I mean actual pictures! I did not know that those with only screw and without the latch can also be Powerdoors! Just learned something new here!
What about the smaller GE M-250A1s? I have a door itself but no latch only the screw and it dates to June 1976...what about those?
OK, the entire Powr/Door series started at the same time the "torpedo" shaped M-series got its facelift in 1965 with the M400A1. The original A1 had the unvented door, deep refractor, and no safety latch. In the early 70s, vent holes started appearing on the ballast doors and a smaller luminaire the M250A1 was rolled out. At the same time, the venerable M-series was replaced with the M400 (split door) and the M250R1. The M1000 underwent major changes to its upper housing including: Reflector redesign, slipfitter redesign (making it necessary to redesign the upper housing as well, and ballast mount redesign. I believe the vent holes appeared on the original split door luminaires, but I think was more cost effective to make a plain door.
Wow Thank you NiMo for clearing this up for me! I never new that they made both until today. I have learned alot about ge fixtures in the last to days!
Maybe overexcited that you learned new things that you were sooo happy you weren't thinking...Don't worry I often get a lot of that in new members. It's a great feelin' eh?!
If you read the instruction sheet for my M-400A in my gallery you'll see that only the fixtures for the LUCALUX hps lamp have both the screw and lach while the ones for mercury only have a screw.
Plus we all have noticed his area seems to be a BIG fan of powerdoors....I mean AE powerdoors too.......so at that time of installations, all their fixtures were powerdoors!!! So we confirmed it's powerdoor!
What about the smaller GE M-250A1s? I have a door itself but no latch only the screw and it dates to June 1976...what about those?
Not a powerbracket but a powerdoor (or in trademark terms the Powr/door)
The Powerbracket looks like those!
