Stockpile of 8ft slimlines for the ban - Eat my voltage!
A ban for 2012? Pfeh, whatever, I collect spare tubes like a squirrel :P

I recently found a nice jackpot of Sylvania SuperSaver slimlines. I know, they're energy-saving. But hey, they work good, and they're free! Plus, they're NOT ecologic! Except two of them, which I installed when I relamped from daylight to cool white, in an attempt to spend my tubes close to EOL to get space for full wattage, NOS lamps. I won't simply throw the energy saving ones away, so I use them LOL.

Got a couple boxes of the gte sylvania lamps too, and a box of nos westy, both energy saving, but i use them and like them.

I use the energy savers for general use. Save the full watters.

I save the energy savers and use the full wattage lamps first!

I use both...
Are slimline lamps still made or are they entirely banned now?
streetlight98   [Mar 26, 2013 at 09:30 PM]
hmm. do the energy saving slimline lamps reak havoc on the ballasts like 34W lamps do to f40 ballasts or does the ballast handle them okay like energy saving T17s? what about HO ballasts? do they run hotter with energy saving lamps like F40 ballasts?

BTW, since we all put our preference for energy saving lamps: if i have them, i use them to relamp relative's fixtures to get vintage tubes and that's ONLY if i get a bunch of NOS energy saving lamps for absolutly free. Even if they're only a few cents each i won't get them. i will not let those reduced wattage lamps hut my vintage ballasts. Mad or any magnetic ballast for that matter. I'll use F34s in electronic T12 ballasts.

A good use for F34T12s is electronic instant-start T8 ballasts- they work fine, as would F40T12s I'm pretty sure.
I wouldn't buy energy savers but if I can get them for free I take them, or occasionally they come with fixtures, as was the case with my Sears shoplight.
(by the way the house my Sears shoplight came from is being demolished in a few weeks. I went there today and will save some more things another day).
