I am curious, I wonder if they ever made mogul base globe shape lamp out there....

They kinda did. Some G-40 and G-48 lamps were fitted with mogul bases but they were specialty floodlights and spotlights with highly concentrated C-5 filaments designed for such fixtures. I have a few of these, and will be posting pics in the near future.

I think GE still makes spot and floodlight version of the G40 lamp, which are used in swimming pools applications I believe.
