And the fact that 6 out of the 12 are burnt out.

yeah they are probably burnt out since all of em are wired together...havent seen em lit again but they should be fixed,i noticed interstate lights seem to get fixed on a somewhat more regular basis.

Not here. They put the lights up and when all of them burn out, they put up new lights. It's absolutly pathetic in my opinion. Trashing perfectly good lights for new lights when most of them have only housed one lamp.

yeah that is pathetic...and also when traveling at night the rumble strips on pavement lit by the highmasts appear to stand still,a similar effect to a HID Lamp illuminating a moving fan.

Here we don't have highmasts. We use Cobraheads. In my opinion, Highmasts are a waste of light for lighting roadways. Just think about it, the whole acre or so of land around the road is lit too. Shocked Rolling Eyes It's more sensible to use cobraheads because the light is more direct. In a big parking lot or at a prison (yes I live near the state prison) highmasts are great. But for roads, the focal point of light isn't concentated enough with highmasts.

hmmmm i kinda like high mast lighting....they do light very large area's,its almost daylight brightness.

Here highmast is reserved for informal settlements, as the lights and the wiring is too high to steal.
