Already a dayburner!
When I installed the M-250 R2 replacing the 115 yesterday, the photocell worked just fine, I plugged the light in the lamp ignited for a second then turned off, like it should do. So it turned on for the night, and sure enough it didn't want to turn back OFF! I came outside today to take a picture and spotted this light on.

I got a new dayburner PC now. xD

I replaced the PC with another one and that one seems to work.

What brand of PC is it?
GullWhiz   [Jan 02, 2012 at 03:54 PM]
Was it pointing to the right direction? It looks like there is a lot of shadows, so it may just be not sensitive....did you test it with flashlight?
LilCinnamon   [Jan 02, 2012 at 08:02 PM]
You can see where it was pointing and it was very bright outside. I think it just doesn't wanna work, it has been in service for a while. Well the new one works great though.
GullWhiz   [Jan 02, 2012 at 08:14 PM]
For a while? LOL I've seen photocells in service for 30 years and more and hasn't dayburned...in fact I got a collection of 30 years and up Photocells!
LilCinnamon   [Jan 02, 2012 at 09:02 PM]
It's a newer photocell and they all have different fail rates. xD Some could last years, others could last a day. xD

It looks like a FPOLC Sun-Tech photocontrol. Im suprised its already a dayburner.
TiCoune66   [Jan 08, 2012 at 03:06 PM]
I still see from time to time photocontrols installed back in the HPS conversion that still work. In the complete opposite I see photocontrols that aren't even a year old already dayburning XD.

Some PCs here are INSTALLED as dayburners! Mad Shocked Rolling Eyes I know they do their repairs at night here, but what a shame they don't even spend a second to to even test the PC after installing it. Confused
HPSM250R2   [Jan 08, 2012 at 04:20 PM]
Where i live, LCEC repairs lights on city roads at night. But on residential roads, they only repair them if someone roports them. I report lights whenever i can. But i have reported cycling lights before, and instead of just installing a new lamp, they replace the whole fixture. Shocked
streetlight98   [Jan 08, 2012 at 04:39 PM]
National Grid here replaces the whole fixture if the ignitor is dead instead of just pluggign in a new one. Rolling Eyes BTW, welcome to the GoL! Smile

Thank you streetlight98. I have been wanting to join GoL for a long time now. I finally bought my own computer and a camera Smile
Antstar85   [Jan 08, 2012 at 07:08 PM]
@ Mike, I rarley replace ignitors. we don't buy them but i'll save a few from fixtures if they still work and change them out if its a quick fix, other than that I'll change out the whole fixture. Cycling fixtures I will change the lamp and Photocell.

@ HPSM250R2, We use FP OLC Electronic controls and they are not the best out there, I'd say 2 out of every 10 I install dayburn in less than a year.
streetlight98   [Jan 08, 2012 at 07:12 PM]
Hmm. How come they don't buy ignitors? I know there was talk that time is more important, but really it's cheaper AND faster to change an ignitor. I'd imagin with those gloves you'd probably break those cheesy GE ignitors....
Antstar85   [Jan 08, 2012 at 07:16 PM]
well the AE fixtures dont have plug in ignitors so I'd have to wire a new one in and its not to easy with those big gloves on.
GullWhiz   [Jan 08, 2012 at 07:41 PM]
They the AE actually do have them, your electric company decided not to get that feature!
streetlight98   [Jan 08, 2012 at 08:03 PM]
Yep. The option code is OP for open plug in anf EP for incapsulated plug-in.
Antstar85   [Jan 08, 2012 at 08:20 PM]
yes, I was aware they had the option, I was just saying our AE's Don't have the plug in ignitors. The GE ignitors are a pain to change with gloves on, thats why I'll usually fix one on the ground and end up using it somewhere else. The same thing with capacitors.
streetlight98   [Jan 08, 2012 at 10:11 PM]
I don't think NGrid allows used materials to be reused because when they do temporary set-ups, they use brand new lights. Then more brand new lights will be installed when they permanet do that intersection. They don't transfer the temporary lights over to the new poles for some reason. Neutral
LilCinnamon   [Jan 08, 2012 at 10:55 PM]
My AE 115 has a plug in ignitor, remember? xD BOTH my 115's came with plug in's. One was OP while the other was EP.
HPSM250R2   [Jan 09, 2012 at 03:50 AM]
Antstar85, FP OLC uses two different types of circuit boards in their electronic controls. Paper boards, which are the cheaper option, and a type of fiberglass circuit board which costs more. If the ones you install have that bad of a failure rate, they are probably the paper boards. Although the circuit board probably doesnt have a lot to do with dayburners. Its when the relay wears out probably.
