My homemade argon indicator
|
Here's my first attempt to create an argon indicator or decoration. I used a fluorescent starter in series with an 80K 1 or 2 watts resistor that was laying around, the current passing is not enough to make the starter close its contacts, so it keeps glowing. I recycled an EOL halogen bulb for the mounting, I cut the outer glass with a diamond disk manually and slowly, for avoid the cracks, then I soldered the starter and the resistor to the lamp supports and finally glued the bulb back with automotive resin, so it's all fixed together and it should last for a couple of decades. I also made a little box from the reverse of the original box, with fluorescent pens.
