Corona Induction Streetlight
Daytime shot of an induction streetlight fixture in Corona.

Corona is the third city nearest me to convert many of its streetlights to induction technology. The fixtures used are the Cobra series by US lighting Tech, who also makes the Jersey style fixtures used by Brea. Unlike the "shoe" or "cloths iron" shape of the Jersey, the Cobra has a more conventional look with styling cues from the AEL 113 and the GE M-250a2

Ah I found the spec sheet. Looks a little better than the Jersey Light but I still wouldn't want these to start popping up around here. I suppose they can't copy a cobrahead design out there but it's really a stretch to call this a cobrahead. Since it's a small cobrahead it should have the same refractor "footprint" as other small cobraheads. the 115, M-250R2, OVZ, OVX, OVH, you name it, they all have interchangeable lenses as should this because it's not a medium sized cobrahead. I think the "real" cobrahead design is on the way out just like what happened to clamshells in the late 50s to late 60s. Sad
