StreetLight #263 - Pointless Placement..
This one isn't for the light itself, but rather where it is placed... In amongst the trees along a little creek/ditch. There's nothing down in the spot where its at (and it'd even be a bit hard to get to with how overgrown the trees/shrubs/weeds are).

The only thing I can assume is I believe there may have been a path down along the creek/ditch, and that path was moved to the top of the hill, but the lights were abandoned (no new ones installed either)

I would doubt it works anymore, but you never know.

Was it at the private lot?

I wish places like this existed in my area. I'd have a source for new street lights lol. They're abandoned and mounted nice and low lol. The light is a Cooper. Looks like it might be an OVS, which would be a mid-late 80s to mid-90s model. Might be another Cooper model but that would make it newer. You're right to assume it's HPS. Almost definitely not MV or MH.

How many of these lights were there? All mounted in the same direction and low down?

@rjluna2:
Nope, its public open-space leading up to a park

@Mike:
Not as low as the pic makes it look.. thats a fairly steep slope & I was standing close to the top. You'd deff need a ladder to get to the top of the poles (and theres houses right on the other side of the creek)

There was 3 or 4 lights, this one was in the most overgrown section & just looked like it'd make a cool pic! A couple others it was fairly open around them - just weeds (but still there's nothing needing to be lit down there where they were).

I plan to go have a walk along that path again sometime, and bring my camera along instead of just the phone...

Ah yeah I guess they'd have to be high enough up to deter vandalism (though there's almost always rocks in or near any creek...). I wouldn't snag a light right off a pole anyway unless the light was on a pole with no wiring going to it and was clearly abandoned beyond all doubt (like a light in a parking lot of a building that was demolished and the parking lot is all overgrown and not used, but not fenced off. Wouldn't want to get booked for trespassing). And it would have to be a fairly rare light too. The light above is not the most common but I wouldn't consider it rare (though in a few years it could be the way things are going).
