Westinghouse OV-25 Silverliner
This is my most prized light fixture, as I live within half an hour of where it came from and remember driving under it a month before it was removed! Originally wired for 480v, I changed the ballast tap to the 240v setting and remote-mounted the huge 20 pound ballast in a metal box to reduce hanging weight, and changed the tired ED37 Philips mercury lamp to a new Iwasaki BT-37 clear.

Nice, I have one too, in HPS Razz

Looks like this is the earliest generation? I could tell by the door design, where the lip of where the refractor holds, it lacks the grooves meaning there are 2 tabs on the front that holds the refractor inside with screws instead of cast tabs casted on the doors, would I be correct?

Second generation, mid-late 60s. First generation is the flat bottom OV25.

Hmm... Can you take a picture of the inside? (LOL) If you still have the fixture, I Just wonder exactly what this would look like.

Here is a picture of the inside. I think the ballast was mounted the same way as yours, originally.

Do I detect mercury vapor and some other light source reflecting on the wall?
vaporeyes   [Apr 15, 2012 at 02:19 AM]
Yes...I had both a mercury (clear) and HPS lamp lit on the other side of the loft, to get those interesting coloured shadows.

What wattages? Were they some of the lights being lit in your "certifiably insane" picture?
