Here it is, it has a huge 3 coil ballast that Caltrans, the California highway department, likes to use. It is multi-volt from 120v to 277v, set at 120v. The center coil is connected only to the capacitor, the third coil is connected to the lamp and ignitor.

Has this been lit yet?

This has a Regulated lag ballast, and because of that the ballast needed different brackets from the usual due to the fact the ballast is BIGGER.

But I say this M-400 R2 was a nice score!

Yep I have lit it, man its bright! This thing is HEAVY! How heavy are your M400R2s with smaller 2 coil ballasts?
LilCinnamon   [Nov 07, 2011 at 07:15 PM]
Well they might be heavier by they have glass refractors in them. I would say my M-400 A1 would weigh about the same as this. My M-400 A1 FCO has a regulated lag ballast like this but 250 watts.

Yup, that's a regulated lag ballast, easy to recognize since they have three coils, one of them being connected to the cap. These are less efficient, but are proven to have excellent lamp regulation!

Is this the only HPS cobrahead you have?
Silverliner14B   [Dec 28, 2011 at 12:13 AM]
I have three, the other two are a Westy OV-15 Tudor and a Sylvania R37 from Canada.
