What is this?! A Westy bulb made by Philips in Canada?!
I found this at the electrical program at school in a light, I had to have this so I exchanged one of my bulbs for it :-) Its a Canadian Westy bulb, but not made at the Trois Riveres plant, but at the Philips plant in Winsdor Ontario. Made in 1986, quite late for the Westy name. The bulb has Philips design features too.

We kinda begin to get used to it, old names and features being used for longer in Canada LOL. To my knowledge Philips continued to make real inside-frosted bulbs all the way into the 90s. I have a few from 1997-8-ish with the real frost!

Look at the etch, note there is no CSA marking? Means this was made for the US market. I think 130v incs were the last to have the Westy etch. I certainly remember the inside frosted Philips bulbs, our old US plant made them until '98.

If only we could still buy general service American or Canadian made inside frost lamps! I don't really like the silica-coated lamps or overseas imports.
