Three different light sources - what do you think guys?
Just learning how to use my phone's camera settings lol. The lamps are as follows:

-Old Industrial Lighting Products 60w frosted incandescent

-Sylvania 12w Micro-Mini Living Spaces CFL

-EcoSmart 8w LED

What do you think guys? The incandescent is the warmest of the three, but the differences are subtle.

Out of those three, the incandescent is my favorite!
I might change my mind if the the middle bulb was one of the choices! Very Happy
Silverliner14B   [Dec 23, 2010 at 11:49 PM]
Yup the inc is my favorite too. That middle bulb is a Luxor 250w self ballasted merc, same shape as a 300w-500w PS35 incandescent.
Form109   [Dec 24, 2010 at 01:51 AM]
incandescent is my favorite here, followed by the CFL,the LED is dead last. Razz
TiCoune66   [Dec 24, 2010 at 02:02 AM]
You don't even like that vintage Luxor 250W self-ballasted merc in the middle Devonte?? Shocked Ya have baaad tastes in lighting, tsk tsk... Laughing

I kid I kid XD
Form109   [Dec 24, 2010 at 03:57 AM]
i didn't even notice it!....it'd be a nice lamp to have, but i like Regular Mercs better.

I like the incandescent the most then the SBMV, followed by the CFL and the LED.
A_lights   [Dec 24, 2010 at 05:51 PM]
The SBML is my favorite then the LED then incandescent and then the CFL
Silverliner14B   [Dec 24, 2010 at 06:10 PM]
@A_lights, why did you pick the LED over incandescent? Just curious that's all.
A_lights   [Dec 24, 2010 at 07:07 PM]
I really like the light color thats all
GullWhiz   [Dec 24, 2010 at 07:52 PM]
#1 Incandescent, #2 MV, #3 LED, #4 CFL...

For my using choices to USE them in my house...I probably would use LEDs because I can't afford electrical bills Wink The LED I have the black GE does me wonderfully so far although it has a narrow beam....but I have had it lit all day almost daily and no noticeable if not nay at all dimming yet....

I'm not sure which is my least favorite, CFL or LED. The only LEDs I've really used are for the tail/brake lights & instrument cluster in my car. The tail/brake lights have lasted for years but the instrument cluster lights keep failing.(cheap China LEDs)

Jace, maybe you should move in Quebec Razz , electricity costs about 10¢/kWh here!
Silverliner14B   [Dec 25, 2010 at 02:33 AM]
But there are not a lot of incandescents left in quebec sadly.
TiCoune66   [Dec 25, 2010 at 02:46 AM]
Indeed Sad Even the 50W R20s are gone here! Only the 45W ones...

In Cranston, RI, the price is $0.14 per kWh. Sorta pricey. Confused My favorites are as follows: (1) incandescent, (2) SBMV, (3) CFL, and (4) LED. I prefer using incandescent, but during these "tough" times, i'm OK with CFL. I know that once a CFL breaks, my dad won't but them ever again. I keep telling my dad to but the sylvania CFLs, but he keeps buying the GE Helicals. I have 3 in my room and the newer ones buzz and take a few seconds to actually begin to come on. Rolling Eyes
TiCoune66   [Jan 30, 2011 at 10:24 PM]
Michael, those few seconds sound like it's a programmed start CFL. And actually programmed start is the starting method that leads to the longest tube life! From my experience, GE CFLs are decent, but whatever the brand is, running a CFL base-up kills it...

I would stay away from everything TCP-branded. Dave (Silverliner14B) actually knows a story about a TCP CFL that almost burnt down a mall in his area!

I don't know much about Sylvania. From what I hear they're kinda good.

Here its just under 16 cents per kwh. NYC is around 22 cents per kwh, Connecticut about 19. The midwest is less than 10!
GullWhiz   [Jan 31, 2011 at 12:21 AM]
11 cents per kWh for me Smile
gailgrove   [Jan 31, 2011 at 12:23 AM]
Here it is just 6.4 cents Very Happy
streetlight98   [Jan 31, 2011 at 10:34 PM]
@ TiCoune66; CFL almost burning down a mall! I have a TCP 70w MH lamp (coated and protected) that has done a great job lighting my back yard. Comes on nice and strong even in these below zero nights and gets really bright. I have heard bad things about their CFLs though....
