Stubby Poles
Here's some stubby poles that are used on roads near airport runways. The lumes look a bit like [url=http://www.mcgraw-edison.com/common/brands.cfm?pg=Detail&brandName=McGraw-Edison&category=Area%20Roadway&id=3199] this [/url] one from Cooper.

Edit: They look more like the fixtures in Niall's link below.

The only thing is that these have "humps" on top and the Coopers don't I think these are
these Wide-Lite fixtures in FCO Razz

I see what you mean, the Widelites do look a lot more like the ones in pic, thanks Wink

i always noticed shorter than usual lighting near air fields and wondered why.
gailgrove   [Dec 29, 2010 at 05:20 PM]
Well they don't want 200 foot highmasts or planes might hit them.
Form109   [Dec 29, 2010 at 05:51 PM]
Yeah,i believe the shorter poles are more along the lines of the pilots not confusing the streetlights with those landing lights.

Highmast's are 200 Feet?....i thought the tallest was 100 Feet.
gailgrove   [Dec 29, 2010 at 06:52 PM]
Nope the tallest is 200, most here range from 80-150 but I think we might have at least a few 200 foot ones at an interchange.

Yeah, I think I might have a pic of the 200 footers on my computer.
I haven't seen a lot of them here though, most like Niall said are the shorter 80-150 foot ones.
