One of the Two Wrap Lights
Here's one of the two F40T12 wrap lights in the basement. The rest of the lights are 4 lamp F40T12 troffers. Those 4 lamp T12 troffers are a PITA to relamp. this wrap sports two cool white 40w Altos. The full wattage Altos are very good. They last much longer than the 34w ones.

i have the same fixture! found it in the trash, as it had a dim LPF ballast..
btw if this gets turned on and off a lot with a LPF ballast its gonna kill those Altos rather fast as the cathodes aren't durable
funny thing is some LPF ballasts will light F34 lamps brighter and overheat versus dimmer with F40 lamps and not overheating

these lamps have been in this light for quite some time. Neither of the wraps needed relamping. i don't know what kind of ballast is in these. This one has plastic endcaps. The troffers have Advance magnetic RS ballasts that love to buzz. i love that buzzing sound. Smile

oh ok
how does it light up? like slow ish with no flicker? if so its LPF
HPF usually does a bit of flickery start up Smile
and yeah i love that old buzzing ballast sound

The wrap doesn't flicker, so i guess it is LPF. The troffers flicker a bit though. I have a video of them starting up. i'll link it if you're interested.

yep i am interested !

oh and are the troffers brighter? troffers always have HPF ballasts, that would be the dead giveaway

I like the wrap lights with metal end caps more than the plastic ones. Also if you check the label inside you can tell whetever it's NPF or HPF from the current draw.

I had one of those before....it was a LPF ballast with a smaller sized ballast (same size a NPF for F20T12) and when it turns on...oh boy it turns on sloooowly with some flicker....It takes about a good 3-5 seconds to go full brightness!

Was is one of those ballasts that underdrove F40s?
