Restoration Complete! Powerlite R37 Glistens Away!
I just bought a $13 and change 10W 800L LED floodlight off 1000Bulbs and used it for lighting in this pic, as the intense glary LED light really brings out the shine in the paint finish. Looks nice with the round GE lens. In fact, I'm probably going to get so used to having this light with the round GE lens it'll look weird with the proper glass when I eventually get it lol.

Not sure which direction is the factory position for the PC socket so I just oriented it randomly. I know the two positions GE has used over the years and the Westinghouse position. I have an idea on how some of the AEs were oriented. Coopers seem to be random every time though.

Thanks guys! This was well deserved for this R37 after about 25 years of neglect. Poor thing was a mess. It's too bad the original ballast was junk since it even had its original lamp and PC (lamp still worked too but PC was waterlogged so I left it on-site) but at least I was able to make it MV without any regrets since the original ballast couldn't be left in place.

It probably still worked but the leads were chewed up, core laminations were coming apart from rust, and the paper they wrap the coils in was chewed up and rotting from water intrusion. The capacitor was in decent shape but the gel they fill the top of the ignitor with (where the leads come out) was all soggy and squishy so the ignitor was probably bad too. I didn't bother testing anything since I didn't want the spark show. The socket was toast too. The PC socket was in fine shape but the leads were chewed up so it wasn't worth salvaging, especially since the Powerlites use such a generic PC socket design. The two castings, the latch, the latch catch, terminal block, and slipfitter were in good shape and that's all that matters. The rest was replaceable.

I almost don't want to install this outside after all the work but I think it'll look right at home on the 6ft tapered arm on my deck. I'll have to angle it down though so I don't piss off my neighbors lol.
