M-250A2 FCO Installed On a 6ft Tapered Elliptical Arm!
I decided to replace the cantilever pipe arm with one of my two nice sturdy tapered elliptical arms. I kept the same fixture out there though, my 250W MH/MV M-250A2 FCO with a newer Chinese Sylvania /DX lamp. This set-up is rock-solid now! I used a few square utility-grade washers around the thru-bolt behind the arm to fill in the gap between the arm and deck post, as the arm's bracket is curved for a utility pole. The tapered arms also adds another 8-12" inches of height to the light too.

Those Sylvania /DX lamps seem pretty good. I have one that has been used for about 4 years (16 hrs/day) and the arctube is starting to get quite dark, but the lamp is still very bright and starts up pink.

As far as new MVs are concerned, these Sylvanias are good.
