lite_lover: I also have a CFL with instant on amalgam technology. My chinese Hyundai "TEVA" amalgam based helical 20W 827 CFL. These lamps tends to overdriven (By doubling their current and wattage) during ignition to get the majority of their light instantly from cold state in addition to amalgams near the electrodes. The name "TEVA" means that the Hyundai TEVA lamps are special export lamps from Hyundai light and electric to Semicom Lexis. My lamp also have a 8000 hours rated life but with only 135mA during normal operation unlike your lamp.

Hi dor123 & Jace,I like this lamp as well,it seems to be of good quality,also these are suitable to be used base-up in recessed fixtures.

Is there another mothed to get the majority of the brightness instantly upon cold start on amalgam based fluorescent lamps without overdrive it initially?
